Tobin S. Novasio is a veteran educational leader with over two decades of experience as a superintendent, currently serving as Superintendent of Hardin Schools in Montana. Known for his visionary leadership and collaborative approach, Tobin has earned a strong reputation both statewide and nationally for championing innovation, equity, mental health, and rural education.

In Montana, Tobin has long been a leading force in statewide educational leadership. He is the current President of the Montana Rural Education Association Board of Directors and previously served on the MASS Board of Directors for almost a decade including as the organization’s President. During his tenure as Superintendent of Lockwood Schools, he was recognized as Montana Superintendent of the Year (2016) and received the SAM G.V. Erickson Award (2020), the state’s highest honor for school administrators.

At the national level, Tobin formerly served on the AASA Governing Board and Executive Committee as well as the organization’s American Rescue Plan Committee. He co-leads AASA’s Leadership for Wellbeing and Learning Cohort and the Hardin district is part of the AASA/JED Foundation’s mental health initiative. Tobin also contributes to national education policy and dialogue through roles on the Horace Mann League of the USA Board of Directors, the Hope Squad National Advisory Board, Cook Center for Human Connections Advisory Council, and the Urban Superintendents Association of America.

Tobin’s influence extends to professional learning and mentorship, having served as a mentor in the SAM Leaders Professional Learning Program and a volunteer faculty facilitator for Deloitte University’s Super Courageous initiative. He is a frequent presenter at state and national conferences, including the AASA National Conference on Education, the National Forum to Advance Rural Education, and the Montana Conference for Educational Leadership.
